The recently completed Building 2 lobby project involves infill of an existing two-story covered exterior space associated with a very modest original building entrance. Granum designed the new lobby's exterior glass walls and entrance portal to complement the existing building's modernist architecture while dramatically strengthening its sense of entry.
A specific challenge of this project concerned the requirement for a new dedicated stair serving a full-floor tenant situated one story above the building's entrance level. The stair's shape was derived from careful analysis of the building's geometry, existing structure and circulation paths through the new lobby. Working within a tight footprint, Granum's design team had to carefully balance the request for a gracious stair serving one tenant with the needs of other building tenants who move through the lobby in reaching their own suites.
